This carriage driving route combines a short stretch of the Ridgeway and classic rolling downland. There are a lot of tracks plus a busy section of road near the M4.Many downland plants can be seen, depending on the season, such as Orchids and Milkwort. Common Blue and Chalkhill Blue butterflies may be seen. Plus Skylarks, Meadow Pipits, Lapwings, Corn Buntings, and Yellow Hammers amongst a wide variety of bird life. Lovely St Michael’s Church on Back Lane. Sugar Hill between (5) and (6) with good views across to valley. Between (7) and (8) you may see circular barrows to the left and right of the track. Between (8) and (9) you pass by the remains of deserted village of Snap. On the route between (11) and (12) there is the Giants Cave in a small copse.
